anyone know why misha still isn’t invited to vegascon?

i’m kinda ticked. they have so many guests and haven’t invited him yet. at burcon they had announced all the guests they had already booked - but hadn’t announced misha. so i asked him at the meet & greet there if he was going to be in vegas next year, and he said the convention people hadn’t asked him to the show yet.

they do know he’s one of the biggest draws, so why aren’t they adding him? he’s on all their other conventions scheduled. why not this one?

I am so sick of the flack Dean gets from some Castiel/Destiel fans who ignore the complexity of the Dean/Cas dynamic and the emotional issues of BOTH characters and instead call Dean a dick unless he’s being nice to Cas. I’m also sick of those who want Dean’s characterization to change just to accommodate their ship.

CAS NEARLY KILLED HIS BROTHER TO PROVIDE A DISTRACTION

If Dean hadn’t found him and made him remember, Sam would be dead right now. To say that Dean didn’t listen to Castiel’s reasoning for siding with Crowley is no excuse for the lengths he went to prevent Dean stopping him.  

That is a lot to ask Dean to forgive. He threatened to Kill Roy and Walt when they shot Sam and he meant it, if they ever run into Roy and Walt they would be salted and burned on the spot, so all things considered Cas is getting off lightly in terms of Dean’s attitude towards him and it’s clear he still cares. 

I really hope the new Megstiel ship takes off and the writers respond to it and cut out Dean/Cas scenes altogether so everyone can start turning on Meg instead. In fact I’ll actively petition them for it. 

Dean can team up with a sock puppet and have insane chemistry so that’s my new ship. Dean and Mr Fizzles. 

Dizzles is where it’s at from now on. 

Except you forget that Dean didn’t even know the healer was Castiel in the first place, AND he had no intention of actually telling Castiel who he really was. He wanted to take him to Sam to fix him and be done with it. Castiel isn’t asking for Dean’s forgiveness. Castiel doesn’t fucking CARE about Dean’s forgiveness. He has bled for them, died for them, sacrificed his family for them, and took on Lucifer for Sam, and none of this is enough. I think he’s done with that whole fucking lot, and him and Meg will spend hanging low and happy for the rest of their days.

The only thing I ship Dean with is a gunshot to the head. In fact, I’ll actively petition the writers to make this happen. 

Oh dear. Let’s take a step back and remember the facts here.

• Dean did not find Castiel on his own mission to help Castiel remember. He brought Castiel to Sam with no intentions of telling him who he really was. He was using a potential resource with no respect to someone who HAD considered him a friend of sorts, despite them not having previously left off as friends. Meg herself was the one to step in and have the respect for Castiel enough to remind him of who he was. Dean would have been happy to drag Castiel away from his pseudo life, have him fix Sam, and dump him somewhere.
• Dean isn’t a dick to just Castiel. Dean is a dick to everyone. Let’s not forget that the only moral compass on this show is Dean Winchester. If Sam is acting strange, it means he’s wrong and he needs to be constantly berated for it. Sam is not allowed to choose his own ways - he has to do everything the way Dean barks it at him. Dean doesn’t even respect Bobby so much as calling him to either bitch about a problem or to demand his help. Bobby was supposed to be the guy’s potential father figure, and he didn’t even give him the respect that would deserve either. So yes, I get upset when Dean disrespects Castiel - because I get upset when Dean disrespects EVERYONE he calls his “friends”. Even with all Sam has done since, Dean will always lord it over his head all the wrongs he has ever done. How could Castiel be exempt from this if Sam isn’t?
• Yes, Castiel had done wrong by screwing with Sam’s wall, but he was acting impulsively. Dean does just the same, all the time. Dean’s made bad impulsive decisions that cause landslides that hurt plenty of people, but he’s given a free pass because he’s Dean. But taking a step backwards and looking at the bigger picture - Castiel had his hands tied in a certain way. He had absolutely no help from his friends, and he was actually trying to do the right thing. If he hadn’t have made all of his choices, bad and good, Raphael would have begun the apocalypse once more and had all of the souls of Purgatory inside HIMSELF. Yes, Castiel made awful choices but he made the best of what he had to work with. However, despite this impulsive action, Dean was capable of something akin to premeditated murder when he went after Amy, in cold blood. But that’s okay because despite being a mother and no longer killing humans, she was a horrible awful monster!

The interesting moment in this episode was, of course, the game of Sorry! in which Dean tries to berate Castiel into saying what he wants Castiel to say. However, Castiel now has the clarity to understand, he no longer has to give in to that angry attitude, just because he considered Dean a friend. He plays the game, trying to coax Dean into understanding that you can’t play a game by yourself. He has already made his apologies, taken his punishment and paid his price. He’s admitted his wrongs and accepted it. Yet Dean isn’t happy with that and pushes for more, to which Castiel replies, it looks like it’s your turn. Of course, Dean doesn’t understand. This is a phenomenon common to chronic verbal abusers. They believe that through abuse, one can control others by undermining their confidence. It shows that they have very little self-esteem and have to ruin every person in their lives to cultivate that self-esteem. Castiel understands now, and his responses are typical of techniques a therapist might teach a victim of such abuse - show no sign that it affects you. As you can see when Dean thrusts the game to the floor, not only does he miss the message Castiel is trying to share but he is angered that he isn’t getting the reaction he wants.

In essence, I find the Destiel ship to be illogical. On Castiel’s side, it’s obvious he does care about Dean. He respects him and even now still helps him. He obviously cares. Dean, does not. Dean doesn’t even have the decency to respect Castiel, not in the beginning and not now. I’m not saying this as a Megstiel shipper, though I am, but as someone who knows what a healthy relationship is. And on top of all of that, Dean is very obviously played as a straight male. There’s just a lot of glaring red flags hanging on the sails of that particular ship. I don’t mean to disrespect, but I am stating my own personal opinion about how this show portrays relationships.

So yes, I agree with you on many points. Dean/Cas shippers do need to stop trying to change characterizations to fit their ship. I would like the Dean and Cas scenes to stop for my own personal feelings - I don’t like seeing Castiel frequently bullied in every single episode when we could use the screen time for actual plot. However, I don’t agree with you saying that they need to be written off so Meg can be hated on instead. That’s just unreasonable. This ship does command a lot of drama from all sides, because a majority of the most active and verbal fans tend to want to see Dean and Castiel screw like bunnies in anime fanart. However, no matter what happens between Dean and Castiel, even if Cas stays with Meg and there are no longer Dean and Castiel scenes, the fans will still have something to say.

I’m happy with Meg and Cas skipping off to all kinds of awkward mayhem without Dean involved, personally.
